"This is the hardest question. There have been so many since I joined the Bove team. It's hard to pick just one!"

"I worked for Gordon's for 1 1/2 years and have a jewelry diploma through the Gemological Institute of America."

What do you do in your spare time?
"What is spare time? My youngest son and his three and five-year-old live with me!" smile emoticon

What is a fun fact about you?
"I love to laugh and have a good time no matter what. I always look for the (proverbial) silver lining!"

Meeting new people and seeing George's smiling face every day!

All of them are special. Making them all happy is a special moment.

What is your background related to Boves?
30 years in retail jewelry. I started out at Gimbels in 1976 at 8th and Market in Philadelphia.

Do you belong to any organizations?
AAA! In case my car breaks down. It's a long ride home--48 miles each way to and from work! smile emoticon

What is a fun fact about you?
I do enjoy a good margarita now and then with hot crabs and good

How many years have you worked at Bove Jewelers?
12 years!

What is your position?
Sales Associate

What is your favorite part of working at Boves?
Helping the customers find that special gift. Spending time with customers. Getting to know my customers.

Do you have a favorite customer memory you'd like to share?
Well, not a big sale, but doing something special for a customer. A gentleman walked in with his wife's wedding band on his finger. He said he wanted to buy a new band for his wife. I said, how long has she been wearing this one? It was a wide gold band. He said, "52 years." I said, "Then that is the one she will want to wear!" I said we can polish it and make it look like new. So, that is what we did.

I never thought any more about it until a few months ago. His wife came in and was getting some repairs done. We began talking and she shared with me that she had lost the love of her life, that her husband had died. She said, "Do you remember the phrase, "That is the only one she will want to wear?" She was so grateful that I did that kind act that day and that she still had her original wedding band, all polished and looking like new and that I hadn't convinced her husband to buy a new one.

What do you do in your spare time?
I like spending time with my husband, visiting people, and attending church each Sunday morning. I love family time.

What is a fun fact about you?
I love to laugh!

"Four years."

What is your position?
"I am on the 'Diamond Team.' I write our monthly newsletter and handle community related contacts (Historic Kennett Square, Longwood Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, etc.)"

What is your favorite part of working at Bove Jewelers?
"Aside from the unique and eclectic staff...the clients here at Boves are wonderful. Bove Jewelers is such an established anchor store here in Kennett Square. I really have had an opportunity to get to know my customers and develop great connections with them."

Do you have a favorite customer moment you'd like to share?
"I just recently had a client whose mom passed away and she was given a large, outdated diamond ring. She wanted something to wear everyday to remind her of her mom. Through a series of sketches and CAD/CAM designs, we came up with a beautiful ring that she loved that used the gold and diamonds from the original ring. Creating custom pieces for our clients is so fun and gratifying. It is a true collaboration with the client and our tremendous jewelers (Jeff and Amanda). They are the best!!"

What is your background related to jewelry?
"I have been selling/managing in the jewelry industry for over 20 years--10 years with Nordstrom in King of Prussia and Boca Raton, Florida and four years in Movado's Boutique division in PA and Florida. It has been a blast!"

What do you do in your spare time?
"I come from a large family. I am one of eight children so I love hanging out with them. I enjoy yoga and walking. My two children are amazing swimmers so we have lots of swim meets to attend"smile emoticon

What is a fun fact about you?
"In a previous life, before jewelry, I was a pastry chef.  I still love to bake and do when I have the time."

What is your position?
My favorite is Senior Vice-President in Charge of Luxury Timepiece Division. My actual position is Manger of Bove Time (mostly known as Watch Guy of Kennett).

What is your favorite part of working at Boves?
The laughter we share all day long!

What is your jewelry background?
I've had watch training with 24 different Swiss manufacturers, including Gold Level Training with Tag Heuer

Do you have a favorite customer story you'd like to share?
Over 13 years, there are just too many to mention. I consider most of my customers family.

What do you do in your spare time?
Watches! It's a sickness smile emoticon

Do you belong to any organizations?
The National Organization of Fatherhood, ha ha, with twins Russell and Tatiana (age 15) and baby Hannah (age 13).

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Jeff Connolly. Raised in Philadelphia, Jeff began in the jewelry industry 32 years ago as a polisher at the age of 17. He started at Bove Jewelers 20 years ago and is now a Certified Senior Goldsmith/Bench Jeweler with state recognition. Involved in all aspects of jewelry repair and design, Jeff learned his trade through continuing education courses in various aspects of jewelry manufacturing and repair, but says he has learned mostly as an apprentice.
His favorite part of working at Bove Jewelers is making a beautiful piece of finished jewelry.
Over the years Jeff has designed and made jewelry not only for customers, but for charities and companies alike, including The Phillies and Longwood Gardens. He has state-of-the-art knowledge in the most modern jewelry manufacturing and repair processes.
In his spare time, Jeff loves to spend time with his beautiful wife, Lisa.

February Sale

CUSTOMER CUSTOM DESIGN STORY:   Diamond Manager Shirley Junca worked with a customer who came into the store and showed her a necklace a jeweler made for her with five rings (top picture). The rings were passed down to her from both sides of the family.  She was not thrilled to wear what the jeweler had created for her and asked Shirley what she could do to improve the look so she could wear it more often.

Shirley asked Boves designer Amanda Ciarrocchi to help draw a design based on what she felt her customer was looking for and she loved the new design!  The necklace has an Art Deco look that fits the period of the rings.  It was made out of gold the customer already had so she saved a lot of money making the new necklace, one she now proudly wears!

Wrap your love around her arm with a stacking bracelet by Philadelphia designer, Lagos.  A sure hit for Valentine's Day.  xoxo

Customer Custom Design Story: Beth's husband and mother had passed away and she wanted to do something special with her engagement ring and earrings and her her mother's engagement ring and diamond wedding band. 

After working with Shirley, our Diamond Manager, this is the design she chose with a Super-Fit shank. These diamonds were just sitting in a drawer, not being worn. Now she has one gorgeous ring that she helped design, a ring that is doubly sentimental to her because it incorporates the diamonds from her mom and husband.

I have been at Boves 11 years.

What is your position?

Watch Repair Technician

What eduction/training to you have for this position?

40 years experience at the bench. American Watchmakers Institute continuing education courses covering Chronographs, Timing, Quartz Repair and Modern Repair Techniques.

What is your favorite part of working at Boves?

Being part of the Bove family and when the boss buys lunch!

What is the most challenging part of being a watchmaker?

Staying focused on the job in front of you.

What is a fun fact about you?

Love being a "Grandpop!"

Congratulations, Bob, on doing such an amazing job these past 11 years. And, we'd like all of you to know, Bob commutes an hour each way, to and from work, no matter what the weather. Pretty sure he loves his job, that is, as long as George keeps springing for lunch now and then.....

Pure crystals of garnet are still used as gemstones.  The gemstone varieties occur in shades of green, red, yellow, and orange.  In the U.S., it's known as January's birthstone.  The lovely garnet is the state mineral of Connecticut and is New York's gemstone. The star garnet (garnet with rutile asterisms) is the state gemstone of Idaho. 

Despite it's official status for these states, we'd have to say, the garnet can unofficially rock any setting, whether a simple birthstone ring to celebrate a birthday or a pendant just because you like it's gorgeous color.
